The Maxtena M1621HCT-P-SMA is a compact, passive Iridium antenna designed for reliable data communication over the Iridium satellite network. It is well suited to satellite IoT builds using the RockBLOCK 9704 module.
Its precision-tuned helical design provides consistent performance across the full Iridium band, helping maintain dependable communication in mobile, maritime and harsh outdoor deployments.
The rugged low-profile housing is IP67 rated, and the antenna connects via a standard SMA male connector for use with compatible Iridium-enabled devices, including Ground Control’s RockBLOCK 9704 SMA.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- Axial
- Axial components have one lead coming out of each end, so they lie flat or span holes on a circuit board or breadboard. This matters when checking whether the resistor will physically fit your prototyping or through-board assembly method.
- IoT
- Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
- IP67
- An ingress protection rating meaning the enclosure is dust-tight and can survive temporary immersion in water under specified test conditions. This matters when choosing a sensor for outdoor, wet, or wash-down environments.
- SMA
- A threaded coaxial connector commonly used for antennas. It matters because you need antennas with matching SMA connectors, or suitable adapters, for the LTE and GNSS antenna ports.
