This compact IR emitter is a light emitting diode designed to transmit infrared signals, such as those used in remote control and generic IR communication projects.
It operates at 940nm, making it suitable for common infrared receiver systems. Like any LED, it should be used with an appropriate current-limiting resistor and can be driven up to its rated forward current.
The LTE-302 is supplied as an individual through-hole, side-view component, making it easy to add to custom PCBs, prototypes, and maker projects.
Specifications:
- Current - DC Forward (If) (Max): 50mA
- Radiant Intensity (Ie) Min @ If: 0.662mW/sr @ 20mA
- Wavelength: 940nm
- Voltage - Forward (Vf) (Typ): 1.2V
- Viewing Angle: 40°
- Orientation: Side View
- Operating Temperature: -40°C ~ 85°C (TA)
- Mounting Type: Through Hole
A handy part for building or repairing IR transmitters, remote-control projects, and basic infrared signalling circuits.

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- LED
- A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
