Hummingbird Starter Flock Classroom Kit (micro:bits Not Included)

Formerly sold as the Small Hummingbird Bit Classroom Bundle, the Starter Flock equips 8–12 students with enough parts to build four robots at once.

micro:bits are not included. Each Hummingbird Bit controller needs its own BBC micro:bit, so you will want four — available separately from us.

Inside the flock

• 1 x carrying case, so the whole lot moves between rooms in one trip
• 4 x screwdrivers
• 2 x wire strippers

AA batteries are not supplied; you will need 16 to run all four kits untethered.

Hummingbird's strength is that the electronics stay generic. Students design and build the body from craft materials, then use the lights, sensors and servos to give it behaviour. Free standards-aligned lesson plans and tutorials cover MakeCode, Scratch, Snap!, Python and Java, so the one storeroom kit supports both an introductory unit and a senior project.
