Hummingbird Bit Controller

The controller board at the heart of the Hummingbird Bit system, sold on its own as a spare or as a way to add another build station to a class set.

A BBC micro:bit is required and is not included — the micro:bit slots into the edge connector and acts as the brain, while the Hummingbird board supplies the screw terminals, power and drivers that let it run real hardware. We sell micro:bit boards separately.

What it drives

• Single-colour and tri-colour LEDs
• Position servos, rotation servos and gear motors
• Analogue sensors — light, sound, dial, distance and the Vernier BTA adapter

Programs from MakeCode, Scratch, Snap!, Python or Java. Terminals are screw-down, so students wire and rewire without soldering — handy when a build changes shape halfway through a lesson.
