The Gravity Voice Recorder Module is a compact board with integrated record and playback functions, based on the ISD1820 chip. Simply press the record button, speak into the onboard microphone, and release to save up to 10 seconds of audio. Playback is instant via the onboard button or by triggering a digital pin from an Arduino-compatible microcontroller.
Connect an 8Ω 3W speaker or an external active speaker for voice output. The module features a standard Gravity 3-pin digital interface for easy integration with DFRobot IO expansion shields and other microcontroller boards.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- Flash memory
- Flash memory is non-volatile memory that retains stored data even when power is removed, and can be erased and rewritten in blocks. It lets data such as firmware, settings or saved records persist across power cycles.
- Gravity
- Gravity is DFRobot’s plug-in connector system for sensors, motors and modules, using standard cables to reduce loose jumper wiring. It matters because Gravity-compatible parts can connect directly to these ports, while non-Gravity parts may need adapters or manual wiring.
- microcontroller
- A microcontroller is a small computer on a single chip that runs a stored program and controls connected inputs and outputs such as buttons, sensors, displays and communication interfaces. In a device built around one, it is the part that executes the code and coordinates the device's behaviour.
