The Gravity I2C 1 kg Weight Sensor Kit is a complete scale-building kit that includes a load cell, HX711 signal adapter board, acrylic mounting bracket, and all hardware needed to measure weight from 1 g to 1,000 g. The on-board MCU processes HX711 data and communicates via I²C, making it compatible with Arduino, micro:bit, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi.

Unlike basic HX711 breakouts, this kit features a built-in calibration algorithm with one-button calibration — no separate calibration sketch needed. Simply press the button or use the API to calibrate, then start reading weight values over I²C.

Key Features

  • 1 g to 1,000 g Range – Suitable for small-scale weighing applications
  • HX711 ADC with On-board MCU – Processed data output via I²C for easy integration
  • One-Button Calibration – Built-in calibration algorithm, no separate code needed
  • API Calibration – Alternatively calibrate programmatically via software
  • Gravity I²C Interface – Standard DFRobot Gravity connector with 3.3V/5V compatibility
  • Configurable I²C Address – 0x64, 0x65, 0x66, or 0x67
  • Complete Kit – All mounting hardware and acrylic bracket included

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

ADC
An analogue-to-digital converter reads a changing voltage and turns it into a number the microcontroller can use. It matters when connecting analogue sensors such as light, sound, or variable-resistor sensors.
API
An API is a software interface that lets a program control hardware or features provided by the operating system. In this product, API support matters if you want your software to adjust display settings such as brightness or contrast automatically.
ESP32
ESP32 is a family of microcontroller modules with built-in wireless features such as Bluetooth and WiFi. Knowing this product uses an ESP32-based module helps explain how it provides wireless serial communication and firmware update features.
Gravity
Gravity is DFRobot’s plug-in connector system for sensors, motors and modules, using standard cables to reduce loose jumper wiring. It matters because Gravity-compatible parts can connect directly to these ports, while non-Gravity parts may need adapters or manual wiring.
I2C
I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
IoT
Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
