While there are many types of temperature sensors available in the market, the DS18B20 arduino Temperature Sensor form DALLAS is the best choice in applications which require high accuracy and high reliability. Its ultra-small size, low hardware overhead, strong anti-interference capability and high accuracy, together with other additional features makes DS18B20 even more popular among users. For electronic enthusiasts and hobbyists, the DS18B20 is a good start for learning and developing temperature-dependent prototypes.
This sensor can be directly plugged and used with our new IO expansion shield.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- 12-bit resolution
- 12-bit resolution means the sensor’s measurement is divided into 4096 possible digital values. Higher resolution can make small changes in motion or tilt easier to detect, as long as the sensor range and noise are suitable for the project.
- DS18B20
- A common digital temperature sensor often sold in waterproof probe form. It matters here because the kit does not include temperature measurement, and a DS18B20 is the suggested add-on if your water readings need temperature context.
- EEPROM
- A type of non-volatile memory that keeps stored data even when power is turned off. In a sensor module, it can be used to store settings or calibration data so they do not need to be re-entered every time.
