A BBC micro:bit is required to run this robot and is not included. The Finch uses the micro:bit as its processor, so you will need one per robot — we stock micro:bit boards separately.
The Finch Robot 2.0 takes coding off the screen and onto the classroom floor. One robot carries a school from upper-primary storytime sequencing all the way to senior text-based programming, so the purchase keeps earning its place year after year. Students write code in Scratch, MakeCode, Python, Java or Snap!, then watch their logic play out as real movement, light and sound.
On board the Finch
- Bluetooth wireless connection — no tether to the laptop
- Rechargeable internal battery lasting 7+ hours
- Centrally mounted marker holder for drawing and geometry tasks
- Five tri-colour LEDs and a multi-tonal buzzer
- Wheel encoders for precise, repeatable movement, plus marked wheels
- Two light sensors, an ultrasonic distance sensor and two infrared line-tracking sensors
- Plastic-brick compatible mounting so students can build their own attachments
