These female stacking headers are made for Adafruit Feather boards, letting you solder headers onto your Feather while keeping access to the pins above the board.
Once fitted, your Feather can be plugged into a solderless breadboard for prototyping, while still allowing compatible circuitry or add-on hardware to connect on top.
The set includes one 12-pin female stacking header and one 16-pin female stacking header. Feather boards are not included.
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- Headers
- Rows of connector contacts on a fixed pitch (commonly 2.54 mm) used to link a board to a breadboard, jumper wires, or another board. They come as male pin headers and female socket headers; when a module ships with pre-soldered headers it can be used straight away, whereas bare pads require soldering the pins yourself.
- solderless breadboard
- A reusable board with rows of internally connected holes for building circuits by pushing in components and jumper wires, with no soldering required. It lets you prototype and rewire a circuit quickly and reversibly before committing to a permanent, soldered build.
