An Arduino-compatible Ethernet shield based on the Wiznet W5200 chip, providing a simple way to connect your Arduino to a network. It plugs directly onto an Arduino Uno or Mega 2560 and supports stacking additional shields on top. An aluminium alloy heatsink is fitted to the W5200 chip for thermal management.

The shield includes a micro-SD card slot for file storage and is directly supported by the official Arduino Ethernet library. The W5200 provides a full IP stack with TCP and UDP support for up to eight simultaneous socket connections.

Key Features

  • Wiznet W5200 – Full TCP/UDP IP stack
  • Up to 8 Socket Connections – With the upgraded library
  • Micro-SD Card Slot – File storage via the Arduino SD library
  • Arduino Compatible – Fits Uno and Mega 2560 form factors
  • Stackable – Pin layout allows additional shields on top
  • Aluminium Heatsink – Manages chip heat dissipation
  • 5V Operation
  • Dimensions – 70 × 55 × 30 mm
Note: Ethernet and SD card share the SPI interface and cannot be used simultaneously. A CAT 5 Ethernet cable is required but not included.

Ideal For

  • Internet-connected Arduino projects
  • Home network devices and embedded servers
  • Security systems and network cameras
  • Data logging with network connectivity

Package Contents

  • 1× Ethernet Shield for Arduino (W5200)

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

Shield
An add-on board that plugs into a main controller board to give it extra features such as sensing, motor control or communication. Knowing a product supports shields helps you judge whether it can connect neatly into an existing maker-board setup.
SPI
A fast serial communication bus often used for displays, memory cards, and sensors. It matters because SPI devices need specific pins for clock and data, plus a separate chip-select line for each device.
