This adjustable dual-gang potentiometer gives you two linked variable resistors on a single shaft, making it handy for interfaces where two channels need to move together. Turn the shaft and the resistance changes, so it can be used to create a variable voltage for an analogue input.

Connect VCC to one outer pin, GND to the other, and the centre pin will provide a voltage that varies from 0 to VCC depending on the rotation. Feed that centre pin into an ADC on a microcontroller to read a user-adjustable control.

Dual-gang potentiometers are commonly used for stereo audio volume control and similar applications where matched adjustment across two channels is required. This part also includes a built-in rotary SPST switch, with PC pin termination, board locks and panel-mount hardware style.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

ADC
An analogue-to-digital converter reads a changing voltage and turns it into a number the microcontroller can use. It matters when connecting analogue sensors such as light, sound, or variable-resistor sensors.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a chip that runs your program and controls connected inputs and outputs. For this product, it is the part that reads buttons and sensors, drives the display and speaker, and communicates over Bluetooth.
potentiometer
A variable resistor usually turned with a knob or shaft to create an adjustable electrical signal. It is often used for inputs such as volume, brightness or position, so it helps beginners learn how a microcontroller reads changing values.
Thread
A low-power wireless mesh networking standard designed for smart home and IoT devices. It matters because Thread devices can relay messages through each other, helping build reliable networks for sensors and controllers.
Tolerance
Tolerance tells you how far the real resistance value may be from the printed value. A 1% resistor is useful when a circuit needs more predictable behaviour than a looser 5% or 10% part.
