Add clear, bright alphanumeric readouts to your next project with this pair of white 14-segment LED displays. Each 0.54" digit can show any letter, number, or symbol — perfect for building clocks, scoreboards, custom dashboards, or any application requiring readable text output.

These displays are rated at 30mcd and are bright enough to be read from up to 23 feet (7 meters) away. They connect easily to a breadboard with their 18 pins in a standard 0.1" pitch layout. Pair them with an Adafruit 14-Segment LED Alphanumeric Backpack (sold separately) for simple I²C control with minimal wiring.

Key Features

  • 14-Segment Design – Displays full alphanumeric characters including all letters, digits, and common symbols
  • Bright White LEDs – 30mcd brightness rating with viewing distance up to 23 feet (7 meters)
  • 0.54" Digit Height – Large enough for clear, easily readable text at a distance
  • Breadboard Compatible – 18 pins with 0.1" spacing, fits a standard breadboard with one row on each side
  • Adjustable Current – Drive at lower current to save power, or up to 20mA for maximum brightness
  • Pack of 2 – Two displays included, ideal for 4-character readouts like clocks or short word displays

Ideal For

  • DIY clocks and countdown timers
  • Custom scoreboards and status displays
  • Text-based readouts for sensors and data loggers
  • Makerspace and electronics education projects

Package Contents

  • 2× White 0.54" 14-segment alphanumeric LED display
Note: These displays may not colour-match our other white 7-segment displays due to manufacturing process differences. The backpack is not included — it is available separately.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
