This is a Panasonic FK series SMT aluminium electrolytic capacitor with a 220µF capacitance, ±20% tolerance and 6.3V rated voltage. It is a polarised surface-mount part intended for compact PCB designs.

The FK series is designed for low impedance in a miniature package, with endurance rated up to 2000 hours at +105°C and operation down to -55°C. It is also RoHS compliant and rated to AEC-Q200.

Use it for smoothing, bulk capacitance and decoupling in low-voltage electronics where a compact SMD electrolytic capacitor is required.

Features:

  • High endurance: up to 2000 hours at +105°C
  • Temperature range: as low as -55°C
  • Low impedance: in a miniature package
  • Compliance: RoHS compliant
  • Vibration-proof: available in a vibration-proof product
  • Operating voltage range: between 6.3VDC

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

capacitance
Capacitance is the amount of electrical charge a capacitor can store, usually measured in farads such as uF. Choosing the right capacitance value matters because it affects how well a circuit filters power, handles timing, or stores short bursts of energy.
electrolytic capacitor
An electrolytic capacitor is a type of capacitor that can store relatively large amounts of electrical charge in a small package. It is commonly used for smoothing power supplies, reducing noise, and short-term energy storage, but it usually has polarity so it must be installed the correct way around.
Impedance
Impedance is the total opposition a component or circuit presents to alternating current, measured in ohms, combining resistance with frequency-dependent reactance. It appears in many contexts, such as matching a speaker's impedance (for example 4 ohm or 8 ohm) to an amplifier or the input and output impedance of signal circuits, and a correct match helps avoid weak signals, distortion or damage.
PCB
A printed circuit board (PCB) is a board, usually rigid, with etched copper tracks that connect electronic components together without loose wiring. Components are mounted on the board and signals route between them through the copper layout.
SMD
SMD means surface-mount device, a component style designed to be soldered directly onto the surface of a circuit board rather than through holes. SMD parts are compact and mounted flat on the board, which suits smaller and mass-produced designs.
Tolerance
Tolerance tells you how far the real resistance value may be from the printed value. A 1% resistor is useful when a circuit needs more predictable behaviour than a looser 5% or 10% part.
