BitRunner lets Carbide Motion control power to your CNC router, so you do not need to reach for the router switch at the end of each program or whenever a tool change is required.

This V2 Standard version includes a lockout pendant, allowing you to manually disable the router during bit changes for added safety.

BitRunner is intended for routers only. It should not be used to control a Shop Vac, as doing so is likely to overload the internal circuit and may cause electromagnetic interference when both motors switch on and off together. It is also not for VFD spindles, which are controlled by their own electronics.

The Standard model does not include the internal AC filter found in BitRunner Deluxe. If your workshop has unusual AC wiring or you have experienced EMI-related disconnects, the Deluxe version is recommended instead.

Features:

  • Carbide Motion control: Allows Carbide Motion to control power to your router.
  • Lockout pendant: Manually disable the router during bit changes for additional safety.
  • Router-only operation: Designed for use with a router, not a Shop Vac or VFD spindle.
  • Shapeoko compatibility: Compatible with all Shapeoko Pro, Shapeoko 4, and Shapeoko 5 Pro machines with a Carbide Compact Router.
  • Shapeoko 3 support: Shapeoko 3 machines with a V2.3 board and below require the Carbide Motion PCB with an enclosure.
  • Shapeoko 3 V2.4 note: Shapeoko 3 machines with a V2.4 PCB should be checked with support to confirm compatibility as-is.

Instructions are provided in the hookup guide. This unit is not compatible with VFD spindles or the Shapeoko HDM.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

electromagnetic interference
Electromagnetic interference is unwanted electrical noise from nearby devices, cables, or radio signals that can disturb a signal in a wire. Shielding helps reduce this noise, which matters for network adapters because cleaner signals are less likely to cause unreliable connections or data errors.
PCB
A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
