This compact breakout is made for slim USB-C projects where a standard horizontal or vertical connector would sit too high. Its sunken Type-C connector straddles the PCBA, helping keep your build low profile while still breaking out the contacts you need.
USB-C gives you a reversible connector, extra data pins and higher current capability, but many projects can still use the familiar USB 2.0-style connections. For typical use, connect VBUS to your 5V input, GND to ground, and D+ and D- as normal.
The board includes two 5.1K resistors on the CC pins, which signal an upstream port to provide 5V and up to 1.5A, depending on what the upstream port can actually supply. The CC and SBU pins are also available if you want to detect cable polarity or use side-band data, or you can leave them disconnected.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- breakout
- A breakout board carries a small or fine-pitched component and brings its connections out to standard, breadboard- and header-friendly pins. Describing a part as a breakout means it can be wired into a project without soldering directly to the component's tiny contacts.
- GND
- GND is the ground or reference connection (0 V) for a circuit. When connecting two devices together, their grounds must be joined so both agree on what counts as a low or high signal.
- Type-C
- USB Type-C (USB-C) is a small, reversible USB connector used for charging, power, and data transfer on many modern devices. A Type-C port or plug indicates the cable and charger connection needed to power, charge, or communicate with a device.
- USB 2.0
- USB 2.0 is a widely used wired standard for carrying both data and power between a device and a computer or other compatible host, with data rates up to 480 Mbps. It indicates the kind of port a device uses and that it should work with most modern and many older computers.
- USB-C
- USB-C is a small, reversible USB connector that can carry power, data and, on some devices, video over a single cable. The same connector can range from charging only to high-speed data, so the functions a given port actually supports vary.
- VBUS
- VBUS is a label for a bus or supply voltage. Most commonly it is the +5V power line carried over USB, though on power-monitoring hardware it instead marks the bus-voltage input being measured, so check which sense applies before connecting power or a measurement point.
