The Adafruit High Density NeoPixel UV LED Strip packs 60 ultraviolet 5050-sized LEDs per metre onto a flexible PCB with weatherproof sheathing. Each LED contains three individual UV diodes controlled as a single NeoPixel, giving you addressable UV lighting that's compatible with any NeoPixel or WS2812 driver library (including FastLED).

The strip can be cut every 2 cm (1 LED per segment) using standard wire cutters, with 0.1" copper pads for soldering connections. Each end has a 2-pin JST SM connector for easy wiring. Set all three R, G, B channels to the same value (0–255) to control UV brightness.

Key Features

  • 60 UV LEDs Per Metre – High-density addressable ultraviolet strip
  • 5050-Sized LEDs – Three UV diodes per 5 mm × 5 mm package
  • NeoPixel / WS2812 Compatible – Works with NeoPixel, FastLED, and other WS2812 drivers
  • Flexible PCB – Bends to follow curves and contours
  • Weatherproof Sheathing – Protected for varied environments
  • Cuttable Every 2 cm – Trim to any length at marked cut lines
  • 2-Pin JST SM Connectors – On each end for easy wiring
  • 5V DC Powered – Standard NeoPixel voltage

Ideal For

  • Black light and UV effects for events and installations
  • Cosplay and costume UV lighting
  • UV-reactive art and display projects
  • Stage and party lighting effects

Package Contents

  • 1× NeoPixel UV LED Strip – 1 metre (60 LEDs) with JST SM connectors on each end
Note: If you order multiple metres, they will arrive as individual 1-metre pieces. JST SM plug/receptacle cables for wiring are sold separately. Always double-check the directional arrows and pin labelling on the strip to identify input and output ends.
Warning: You must use a 5V DC power supply. Do not exceed 6V or you will permanently destroy the entire strip. A 5V 2A supply can drive approximately 1 metre; a 5V 10A supply can drive up to 5 metres (depending on brightness settings).

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
NeoPixel
A type of addressable LED system where colour data is sent along a single digital data line from one LED or controller to the next. Compatibility matters because the timing and signal format must match for the lights or driver board to respond correctly.
PCB
A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
