This complete pack includes everything you need to build animated eyes with a Raspberry Pi (not included). The Adafruit Snake Eyes Bonnet drives two high-density 1.54" TFT displays at 240×240 resolution with IPS wide-angle viewing, delivering sharp, vibrant eye animations with image quality rivalling OLED at TFT pricing.

The bonnet uses hardware-accelerated OpenGL rendering for smooth, antialiased 3D eye graphics, with Python code that's straightforward to customise. Four analog inputs let you connect sensors to control eye movement and behaviour.

Important: Raspberry Pi not included. We strongly recommend using a Raspberry Pi 3 (Model B or B+) or later for the best frame rate with these high-density displays. Some through-hole soldering, assembly and coding is required.

IPS
IPS is a type of LCD panel that keeps colours and contrast more consistent when viewed from an angle. This matters for small displays that may be mounted in a dashboard, handheld project, or enclosure where the viewer is not always looking straight on.
LCD
LCD stands for liquid crystal display, a screen technology that uses a backlight and liquid crystals to show images or text. It matters because LCD modules usually need a display driver and enough controller pins or a bus interface to send image data.
OLED
OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode, a display type where each pixel produces its own light. It matters because OLED screens are thin, high-contrast and easy to read for small status displays, but they can be more sensitive to image burn-in than some other display types.
ST7789
A display controller chip commonly used to drive small colour TFT screens. If a board uses an ST7789, your software needs a compatible display library or driver to draw text, graphics and images correctly.
TFT
A thin-film transistor display is a common type of colour LCD used for graphics screens. Knowing a product is for TFTs helps you check that the driver board matches the display’s connector, resolution, backlight, and signalling method.
