The Adafruit 1.3" 240×240 Wide Angle IPS TFT Display is a bare display module — the same screen used in the Adafruit CLUE and Mini PiTFT 1.3". It delivers 240×240 pixels of 16-bit full colour with 80° viewing angles in all directions, driven by the ST7789 controller.

This is the display module only, with no PCB or breakout board included. It connects via a 24-pin 0.5mm pitch FPC connector (such as the Amphenol SFV24R-2STE1HLF) and is intended for integration into custom projects. For a ready-to-use version with level shifting, mounting holes, and SPI breakout, see our breakout board version.

Key Features

  • 240×240 IPS Display – 16-bit colour with 80° viewing angles, 1.3" diagonal
  • ST7789 TFT Driver – Similar to the popular ST7735, supported by the Adafruit Arduino library
  • Compact Module – Bare display for custom integration
  • Open Source Library – Arduino graphics library with support for pixels, lines, shapes, text, and bitmaps

Package Contents

  • 1× 1.3" 240×240 IPS TFT display module (bare, no PCB)
Important: This is a bare display module only — no breakout PCB, level shifter, or regulator is included. A 24-pin 0.5mm pitch bottom-contact FPC connector is required for connection.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

breakout
A breakout is a small circuit board that makes a tiny or hard-to-solder component easier to connect to with standard pins. It matters because this OLED module can be wired into a microcontroller project without needing to solder directly to the display’s fine contacts.
FPC
FPC stands for flexible printed circuit, a flat flexible cable or connector style often used where space is tight. It matters because this breakout needs the correct pin count and pitch FPC cable to connect reliably to the display or high-speed interface.
IPS
IPS is a type of LCD panel that keeps colours and contrast more consistent when viewed from an angle. This matters for small displays that may be mounted in a dashboard, handheld project, or enclosure where the viewer is not always looking straight on.
PCB
A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
SPI
A fast serial communication bus often used for displays, memory cards, and sensors. It matters because SPI devices need specific pins for clock and data, plus a separate chip-select line for each device.
ST7789
A display controller chip commonly used to drive small colour TFT screens. If a board uses an ST7789, your software needs a compatible display library or driver to draw text, graphics and images correctly.
TFT
A thin-film transistor display is a common type of colour LCD used for graphics screens. Knowing a product is for TFTs helps you check that the driver board matches the display’s connector, resolution, backlight, and signalling method.
