The Waveshare PhotoPainter is a 7.3" e-paper display housed in an elegant solid wood frame. Using Advanced Color ePaper (ACeP) technology, it supports 7-colour display with a paper-like viewing experience — no blue light, no eye strain, and images persist without power.
With ultra-low power consumption (power is only needed during image refresh), an optional large-capacity lithium battery allows thousands of refreshes on a single charge. An onboard RTC chip enables timed automatic refreshes, and open-source code lets you customise functionality.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- ePaper
- A display technology that looks more like printed paper than a glowing screen and usually keeps its image visible with very little power. It matters for projects such as labels, badges, and status screens where readability and low power use are more important than fast animation.
- RTC
- A Real-Time Clock keeps track of time even when the main processor is asleep or powered down, usually with a small backup battery. It matters for data logging and tracking projects that need accurate timestamps.
