Resources

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

6H surface hardness
6H is a pencil-hardness rating used to describe how resistant the screen surface is to scratching. A higher hardness rating helps in portable or classroom projects where the display may be touched often or handled roughly.
DisplayPort
A digital display interface used to connect monitors and other video displays. It matters because the supported DisplayPort version affects display resolution, refresh rate and monitor compatibility.
eDP
Embedded DisplayPort is an internal display connection commonly used between a computer board and a built-in screen. It matters because this display needs a matching eDP connector and support on the host board, so it will not plug into a normal HDMI-only output.
FPC
FPC stands for flexible printed circuit, a flat flexible cable or connector style often used where space is tight. It matters because this breakout needs the correct pin count and pitch FPC cable to connect reliably to the display or high-speed interface.
HMI
HMI stands for Human-Machine Interface, meaning the screen, buttons, or controls a person uses to interact with a device. For this product, it suggests the display is intended for control panels, dashboards, robot faces, or other user-facing interfaces.
I2C
I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
IPS
IPS is a type of LCD panel that keeps colours and contrast more consistent when viewed from an angle. This matters for small displays that may be mounted in a dashboard, handheld project, or enclosure where the viewer is not always looking straight on.
Multi-touch
Multi-touch means the touchscreen can detect more than one finger contact at the same time. This matters for interfaces that use gestures such as pinch-to-zoom, two-finger scrolling, or on-screen controls used together.
Transmittance
Transmittance describes how much light passes through the display or touch panel layers. Higher transmittance can make the screen appear brighter or clearer for the same backlight power.
