5 x AA Battery Holder with 2.1mm DC Jack

This 5×AA battery holder delivers approximately 7.5V from five AA batteries, terminated with a 2.1mm DC barrel plug (centre positive). It provides the ideal voltage for Arduino boards and other development boards with onboard 5V regulators, which typically need 1–2V of headroom above their output voltage.

A 4×AA holder only provides ~6V, which is often too low for reliable 5V regulation. This 5×AA configuration gives comfortable overhead while remaining compact enough to fit on robot rover kits, powering both an Arduino and a couple of motors from a single pack.
