This 4.3" QLED display from Waveshare connects to Raspberry Pi via the DSI interface, providing a high-quality touchscreen with a single ribbon cable connection. The QLED (Quantum Dot LED) panel delivers a wider colour gamut (sRGB 92%, NTSC 78%) and more vivid colours compared to standard TFT displays, with a colour lifetime of up to 60,000 hours.

The integrated design with toughened glass panel and 5-point capacitive touch makes it ideal for embedded applications and kiosk-style installations. It's driver-free on Raspberry Pi OS with full multi-touch support, and also works with Ubuntu, Kali, WIN10 IoT (single-point touch), and RetroPie.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

DSI
DSI stands for Display Serial Interface, a high-speed connection commonly used to send video data from a computer board to a display. It matters because DSI signals are not simple GPIO wires, so the cable, connector, and signal routing need to match the display interface.
FPC
FPC stands for flexible printed circuit, a flat flexible cable or connector style often used where space is tight. It matters because this breakout needs the correct pin count and pitch FPC cable to connect reliably to the display or high-speed interface.
I2C
I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
IoT
Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
Multi-touch
Multi-touch means the touchscreen can detect more than one finger contact at the same time. This matters for interfaces that use gestures such as pinch-to-zoom, two-finger scrolling, or on-screen controls used together.
TFT
A thin-film transistor display is a common type of colour LCD used for graphics screens. Knowing a product is for TFTs helps you check that the driver board matches the display’s connector, resolution, backlight, and signalling method.
