The Waveshare 10.85" e-Paper Display (G) is a wide-format E-Ink screen with 1360×480 resolution and quad-colour output — red, yellow, black, and white. Using microcapsule electrophoretic technology, it delivers a paper-like viewing experience that's easily readable under ambient light without a backlight, and retains displayed content without any power draw.

The display communicates via 3-wire or 4-wire SPI and is compatible with Raspberry Pi, ESP32, Arduino, STM32, and other microcontrollers. An onboard voltage translator supports both 3.3V and 5V logic levels. An optional e-Paper HAT+ (G) driver board is available for direct Raspberry Pi GPIO connection.

Key Features

  • 10.85" E-Ink Panel – 1360×480 resolution with 0.191×0.191mm dot pitch
  • Quad-Colour Display – Red, yellow, black, and white for vivid, eye-catching content
  • Paper-Like Viewing – No backlight required; excellent readability under ambient light with >170° viewing angle
  • Ultra-Low Power – Retains displayed content without electricity; power only needed during refresh
  • 21-Second Full Refresh – Complete screen update in 21 seconds
  • SPI Interface – 3-wire and 4-wire SPI for broad microcontroller compatibility
  • Voltage Translation – Onboard translator supports both 3.3V and 5V MCUs
  • 2-Level Greyscale – Per-colour greyscale capability

Ideal For

  • Retail price tags and digital shelf labels
  • Wide-format signage and information displays
  • Industrial instrument readouts
  • Conference and event name badges
  • Low-power IoT dashboards

Package Contents

  • 1× 10.85" e-Paper (G) display
  • 1× MX1.25 10-pin cable
  • 1× Screw pack
  • 1× e-Paper HAT+ (G) driver board (optional — select at purchase)
Note: Raspberry Pi and other controller boards are not included. If you require the e-Paper HAT+ (G) driver board, ensure you select it when placing your order.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

3.3V and 5V logic levels
Logic level refers to the voltage a board uses to represent digital on and off signals. Support for both 3.3V and 5V logic means this breakout can connect more easily to common microcontrollers and single-board computers without extra level-shifting hardware.
ESP32
ESP32 is a family of microcontroller modules with built-in wireless features such as Bluetooth and WiFi. Knowing this product uses an ESP32-based module helps explain how it provides wireless serial communication and firmware update features.
GPIO
General-purpose input/output pins are microcontroller pins you can set in software to read signals, switch devices on and off, or connect to peripherals. The number of GPIO pins matters because it limits how many buttons, LEDs, sensors, and other parts you can wire directly to the board.
IoT
Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a chip that runs your program and controls connected inputs and outputs. For this product, it is the part that reads buttons and sensors, drives the display and speaker, and communicates over Bluetooth.
SPI
A fast serial communication bus often used for displays, memory cards, and sensors. It matters because SPI devices need specific pins for clock and data, plus a separate chip-select line for each device.
STM32
STM32 is a family of microcontroller chips commonly used in embedded electronics. Knowing a product uses an STM32 can help when looking at firmware updates, pin connections, or low-level serial control options.
