This USB Type C Sync Data Cable with On/Off Switch cable is great when you don't want to plug-and-unplug a device to turn it on and off. It's a true USB C to C cable, with power, data and power delivery (USB C PD) lines connected so it can be used for high voltages/currents as well as data syncing.
When switched ON it acts as a normal cable. When OFF the power line is disconnected so that the device no longer is powered. A little blue LED tells you when its powered. Don't forget! USB C hosts often requires a device connected before it will enable power, so you need to connect a client device on the other end to pull the CC line low and tell the power supply/computer to enable power before the blue light comes on
Most cables are 'cheap' and don't connect the data or CC lines, which is super frustrating because it means the cable won't work with all devices. This one is a little more expensive because you're getting the proper data/sync through!
Note this only passes the power, D+/D- and CC wires so its good for USB 2 signals. It isn't for super-speed / USB 3 uses.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
