There are lots of trimpots out there. Some are very large, some so small they require a screwdriver. Here at Little Bird, we just needed a simple one that worked.

This 10K trimmable potentiometer has a small knob built right in and it’s breadboard friendly to boot! Perfect for your next LCD contrast adjuster, opamp setting, or volume level. This model # is TSR-3386U within the datasheet.

These are the trimpots used in the current Crack the Code kit.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

LCD
LCD stands for liquid crystal display, a screen technology that uses a backlight and liquid crystals to show images or text. It matters because LCD modules usually need a display driver and enough controller pins or a bus interface to send image data.
potentiometer
A variable resistor usually turned with a knob or shaft to create an adjustable electrical signal. It is often used for inputs such as volume, brightness or position, so it helps beginners learn how a microcontroller reads changing values.
