SparkPNT GNSSDO+ is a high-precision time and frequency reference built around the Septentrio mosaic-T GNSS module and a Rakon STP3593LF double-oven OCXO. It is intended for demanding timing applications where stable 10MHz and pulse-per-second references are needed, including labs, server racks and remote equipment.

The mosaic-T provides multi-constellation, multi-frequency GNSS timing with AIM+ resilience for challenging conditions such as jamming or spoofing. The onboard ESP32-WROVER disciplines the OCXO and controls the Qwiic OLED display, while remote configuration is available through the ESP32 serial console over TCP.

Connectivity is practical and robust: the GNSS antenna, PPS output, disciplined 10MHz output and EventA input are all on SMA connectors, with additional IO on a 3.5mm cage-screw header. Power can come from USB-C, Power-over-Ethernet or an external DC source, and the unit is housed in a custom extruded aluminium case with machined end panels and slotted flanges for mounting.

The included active L1/L2/L5 antenna is certified by the National Geodetic Survey, and AtomiChron® service is delivered over-the-air using the same GNSS antenna with no internet access required. Supporting documentation and files include a quick start guide, schematic, product manual, hardware repository, ESP32 firmware and firmware binaries.

Use it where a stable GNSS-disciplined frequency reference is required, but note that it is a timing product rather than an RTK positioning receiver.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

ESP32
ESP32 is a family of microcontroller modules with built-in wireless features such as Bluetooth and WiFi. Knowing this product uses an ESP32-based module helps explain how it provides wireless serial communication and firmware update features.
GNSS
GNSS stands for Global Navigation Satellite System, covering positioning systems such as GPS and similar satellite networks. It matters here because high-precision GNSS modules can output lots of serial position data that this product can send wirelessly to a computer or phone.
L5
A modern GNSS signal band used by several satellite systems for more accurate and robust positioning. Dual-band receivers that include L5 can often perform better than single-band receivers, especially for RTK and areas with reflected signals.
microSD card
A microSD card is a small removable memory card used to store files such as audio tracks. For this product, the card is where the sound files live, so its capacity and formatting can affect how many sounds you can use.
OLED
OLED stands for organic light-emitting diode, a display type where each pixel produces its own light. It matters because OLED screens are thin, high-contrast and easy to read for small status displays, but they can be more sensitive to image burn-in than some other display types.
PoE
Power over Ethernet lets one Ethernet cable carry both network data and electrical power. This is useful when installing a device where running a separate power adaptor would be difficult.
Qwiic
Qwiic is a plug-in connector system for I2C devices that uses small 4-pin cables, so you can connect compatible sensors without soldering. It matters because your controller or adapter also needs Qwiic, or you will need a cable or breakout to wire it up.
RTK
Real-Time Kinematic positioning is a GNSS technique that uses correction data from a base station to greatly improve location accuracy. It matters if you need centimetre-level positioning for robotics, mapping, surveying, or tracking rather than ordinary metre-level GPS accuracy.
SMA
A threaded coaxial connector commonly used for antennas. It matters because you need antennas with matching SMA connectors, or suitable adapters, for the LTE and GNSS antenna ports.
UART
UART is a simple serial connection that sends data over separate transmit and receive wires, often labelled TX and RX. It matters because this module is designed to replace a wired UART cable with a wireless link while keeping the same serial data format.
USB-C
A modern reversible USB connector used for power and data connections. On this product it matters because it can connect directly to a computer as well as to a microcontroller project.
