SparkFun Triple Axis Accelerometer Breakout - MMA8452Q
A breakout board for the MMA8452Q, a low-power three-axis capacitive MEMS accelerometer with 12-bit resolution. User-selectable full-scale ranges of ±2g/±4g/±8g and configurable output data rates from 1.56 Hz to 800 Hz make it versatile for motion detection, orientation sensing, and inertial measurement projects.
The board breaks out ground, power, I2C, and two programmable interrupt pins. Six embedded interrupt sources — including freefall, pulse detection, and orientation change — allow the host processor to sleep and wake only on events, saving significant power.
Key Features
- 12-Bit Resolution – High-precision acceleration data (8-bit mode also available)
- Selectable Range – ±2g, ±4g, or ±8g full-scale
- I2C Interface – Up to 2.25 MHz with 4.7 kΩ pull-ups
- Two Interrupt Pins – Programmable for six interrupt sources
- Orientation Detection – Portrait/landscape with configurable hysteresis
- Ultra-Low Power – 6 µA to 165 µA current consumption
- High-Pass Filter – Filtered data available in real time
