An extended Qwiic shield that adds four Qwiic connectors to Teensy 4.1, Teensy 3.6, and Teensy 3.5 boards. Connects the I²C bus (GND, 3.3 V, SDA, SCL) to two horizontal and two vertical Qwiic ports for easy daisy-chaining of I²C sensors and actuators.

Includes a PROG button that mirrors the Teensy's built-in programming button, so you can trigger programming mode from either the shield or the Teensy itself. Headers are included but require soldering.

Key Features

  • 4 Qwiic Connectors – 2 horizontal + 2 vertical JST connectors for I²C devices
  • Extended Footprint – Sized for Teensy 4.1, 3.6, and 3.5
  • PROG Button – Electrically parallel with the Teensy's programming button
  • Daisy-Chainable – Connect multiple Qwiic devices (unique addresses required)
  • Headers Included – 2× 24-pin and 1× 5-pin headers (soldering required)

Ideal For

  • Adding I²C sensors to Teensy projects
  • Rapid prototyping with the Qwiic ecosystem
  • Audio and high-performance Teensy 4.1 builds
  • Multi-sensor data acquisition
Note: Match the markings on the Qwiic Shield to the correct pins on your Teensy when soldering headers to avoid damaging either board. Teensy board not included.

Package Contents

  • 1× SparkFun Qwiic Shield for Teensy (Extended)
  • 2× 24-pin headers
  • 1× 5-pin header

Resources

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

GND
GND is the ground or reference connection (0 V) for a circuit. When connecting two devices together, their grounds must be joined so both agree on what counts as a low or high signal.
Headers
Rows of connector contacts on a fixed pitch (commonly 2.54 mm) used to link a board to a breadboard, jumper wires, or another board. They come as male pin headers and female socket headers; when a module ships with pre-soldered headers it can be used straight away, whereas bare pads require soldering the pins yourself.
Qwiic
Qwiic is a plug-in connector system for I2C devices that uses small 4-pin cables, so you can connect compatible sensors without soldering. It matters because your controller or adapter also needs Qwiic, or you will need a cable or breakout to wire it up.
Shield
An add-on board that plugs into a main controller board to give it extra features such as sensing, motor control or communication. Knowing a product supports shields helps you judge whether it can connect neatly into an existing maker-board setup.
