This adapter makes it straightforward to add a wired Ethernet connection to a Teensy 4.1. It brings the functionality of the Ethernet Kit for Teensy 4.1 onto a single board, helping you get a network-capable setup together with less assembly.

The tricky parts are already taken care of, with the RJ45 Ethernet connector, B10601S Ethernet transformer and 2x3 2mm header pre-soldered on the board. For a complete setup, you will still need your own Teensy 4.1 board, a 6-pin (2x3) ribbon cable, and a 2x3 (2mm pitch) male header to solder onto the Teensy 4.1.

It's a tidy hardware add-on for projects that need a reliable wired network link. SparkFun also provides supporting resources including a Quick Start Guide, schematic, KiCad files, board dimensions and a GitHub repository. Please note that some basic soldering is still required to use this adapter.

Features:

  • Single-board design: Combines the functionality of the Ethernet Kit for Teensy 4.1 into one board.
  • RJ45 Ethernet connector: Pre-soldered on the adapter board.
  • B10601S Ethernet transformer: Pre-soldered on the adapter board.
  • 2x3 header: 2mm header pre-soldered on the adapter board.
  • Minimal assembly: Reduces the most complex soldering steps compared with the multi-part kit.

Specifications:

  • Compatibility: Teensy 4.1
  • Ethernet connector: RJ45 Ethernet Connector
  • Ethernet transformer: B10601S Ethernet Transformer
  • Header: 2x3 Male Header (2mm spacing)
  • Required ribbon cable: 6-pin (2x3) ribbon cable
  • Required Teensy header: 2x3 (2mm pitch) male header

A good fit for embedded networking, automation and other Teensy 4.1 projects where a wired Ethernet connection is preferred.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

2mm pitch
Pitch is the distance between the centres of neighbouring pins on a connector. A 2mm pitch header is smaller than the common 2.54mm breadboard spacing, so you need matching cables and headers rather than standard breadboard jumper leads.
B10601S
A specific Ethernet transformer module used between the Ethernet electronics and the cable connector. It helps provide the signal coupling and isolation needed for a proper wired Ethernet connection.
RJ45
The common plug and socket style used for wired Ethernet network cables. If a board has an RJ45 connector, you can usually plug it into standard Ethernet cabling without making a custom connector.
