A compact prototyping shield designed specifically for the Arduino Pro Mini. When your project needs just a bit more space for external circuitry, this shield adds 38 unconnected plated through-holes (PTHs) in a form factor that matches the Pro Mini.

The shield connects to the top four pins on each side of the Mini (GND–TXO and VCC–RAW) and includes small power buses for VCC, GND, and RAW. Serial pins are also broken out on the shield for easy access.

Key Features

  • 38 Prototyping PTHs – Plenty of space for custom circuitry
  • Pro Mini Form Factor – Matches the compact footprint of the Arduino Pro Mini
  • Power Buses – Dedicated VCC, GND, and RAW bus lines
  • Serial Breakout – Serial pins broken out for convenient access
Note: Analogue and digital pins are not broken out on this shield — only power buses and serial pins are accessible.

Ideal For

  • Expanding Arduino Pro Mini projects with custom circuitry
  • Compact prototyping where space is limited
  • Adding external components without a separate breadboard

Package Contents

  • 1× ProtoShield for Arduino Pro Mini

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

breakout
A breakout board carries a small or fine-pitched component and brings its connections out to standard, breadboard- and header-friendly pins. Describing a part as a breakout means it can be wired into a project without soldering directly to the component's tiny contacts.
GND
GND is the ground or reference connection (0 V) for a circuit. When connecting two devices together, their grounds must be joined so both agree on what counts as a low or high signal.
Shield
An add-on board that plugs into a main controller board to give it extra features such as sensing, motor control or communication. Knowing a product supports shields helps you judge whether it can connect neatly into an existing maker-board setup.
VCC
VCC is the positive power-supply connection on a chip or module. Connecting it to the correct supply voltage is needed for the part to power on and helps avoid damaging the electronics.
