These incredibly small surface-mount NeoPixel LEDs measure just 3.2 × 1.0 × 1.48mm, making them perfect for projects where space is at a premium. Each LED contains red, green, and blue elements with a built-in driver chip that provides ~12 mA constant current drive — no external resistors needed.

The slim round form factor supports multiple soldering orientations: flat against a PCB, reverse-mounted through a cutout, or right-angle. Like all NeoPixels, they can be daisy-chained with the output of one feeding the input of the next.

Key Features

  • Ultra-Compact – Just 3.2 × 1.0 × 1.48mm per LED
  • 24-Bit Colour – Full RGB control with built-in PWM driver
  • Constant Current Drive – ~12 mA for consistent colour regardless of voltage
  • Chainable – Connect output to input for long chains
  • Multiple Mount Options – Flat, reverse, or right-angle soldering
  • 5V Operation – Simple single-supply power

Specifications

  • LED Type: Addressable RGB (NeoPixel)
  • Dimensions: 3.2 × 1.0 × 1.48mm
  • Supply Voltage: 5V DC
  • Current Drive: ~12 mA constant current
  • Colour Depth: 24-bit (8 bits per channel)
  • Package: Surface mount

Ideal For

  • Space-constrained PCB designs
  • Wearable electronics
  • Custom LED arrays and matrices
  • Miniature indicator lights
Note: Due to their tiny size, these LEDs are not designed for hand soldering. SMT techniques with solder paste and hot air are recommended.

Package Contents

  • 10× NeoPixel Addressable RGB LEDs (3.2 × 1.0mm, slim round)

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

Colour depth
Colour depth describes how many different colours a display can show. A 65K-colour display can show about 65,000 colours, which is useful for icons, graphs, and simple full-colour interfaces but is less detailed than modern phone or computer screens.
LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
NeoPixel
A type of addressable LED system where colour data is sent along a single digital data line from one LED or controller to the next. Compatibility matters because the timing and signal format must match for the lights or driver board to respond correctly.
PCB
A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
PWM
Pulse Width Modulation is a way for a digital pin to simulate variable output power by switching on and off very quickly. It matters for controlling things like LED brightness, motor speed, or servo-style signals from a microcontroller pin.
RGB
Short for red, green and blue, usually referring to an LED that can mix those three colours. It matters because controlling an RGB LED teaches how separate outputs combine to create different colours.
