The materials you'd otherwise spend a weekend sourcing
Conductive thread, conductive fabric and correctly graded graphite pencils are the three things that stall a Makey Makey art project. This booster kit packages them alongside ordinary craft supplies so a soft-circuit or drawn-circuit lesson can be planned in an afternoon.
- 1 x conductive graphite pencil and sharpener
- 20 x 19 mm brass paper fasteners
- 5 x aluminium foil sheets
- 1 x 150 mm conductive fabric square and 1 x roll of conductive fabric tape
- 1 x 3 metre bobbin of conductive thread
- 1 x steel ball, 4 x binder clips, 1 x momentary push button
- 1 x Makey Makey sticker
Aimed at classes merging art and technology - wearable switches, drawn game controllers, interactive posters. A Makey Makey board is required and is not included in this kit.
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- conductive thread
- Thread made with metal or other conductive fibres so it can carry electricity while being sewn into fabric. It matters for wearable and textile projects because it can replace wire, but it has more resistance than normal hookup wire.
- Thread
- A low-power wireless mesh networking standard designed for smart home and IoT devices. It matters because Thread devices can relay messages through each other, helping build reliable networks for sensors and controllers.
