The VZ-R is the IPEVO visualiser that doesn't need a computer. Run the HDMI output straight into a projector, monitor or interactive panel and it projects live — useful when the classroom PC is slow, locked down, or simply not there. Plug the USB lead into a laptop instead and it behaves as a standard UVC camera for recording, web conferencing and remote teaching.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- fps
- fps means frames per second, or how many video images are captured or displayed each second. A higher fps generally gives smoother motion, which helps when the camera or the scene being viewed is moving.
- HDMI
- HDMI is a common digital video and audio connection used by computers, media players, and many displays. If a display kit has HDMI input, it is usually much easier to test with a single-board computer because it can act like a normal monitor.
- USB 2.0
- USB 2.0 is a widely used wired standard for carrying both data and power between a device and a computer or other compatible host, with data rates up to 480 Mbps. It indicates the kind of port a device uses and that it should work with most modern and many older computers.
- UVC
- UVC is a short-wavelength, high-energy band of ultraviolet light often used in germicidal lamps and curing applications. A separate UVC reading matters if your project needs to monitor or verify UVC sources rather than just detect general UV light.
