An 8 MP camera module for the Raspberry Pi 5, built around the Sony IMX219 sensor. It connects via the MIPI CSI 4-lane interface for higher frame rates than traditional 2-lane modules, delivering sharp 3280 × 2464 still images and smooth video up to 1080p at ~47 fps. The 79.3° field of view with less than 1% distortion makes it well-suited for close-range inspection, object detection, and general-purpose imaging.
The module uses a 22-pin FPC cable (included) and is compatible with the Raspberry Pi 5's CSI connector. It works with libcamera out of the box on recent Raspberry Pi OS releases.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- FPC
- FPC stands for flexible printed circuit, a flat flexible cable or connector style often used where space is tight. It matters because this breakout needs the correct pin count and pitch FPC cable to connect reliably to the display or high-speed interface.
- MIPI
- MIPI is a high-speed display and camera interface often used inside phones, tablets, and embedded devices. It matters because raw MIPI displays usually need special driver hardware or software support, unlike plug-and-play HDMI screens.
- PCB
- A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
