This 7" TFT display delivers 800×480 resolution with an extra-bright backlight and a versatile driver board that accepts HDMI, VGA, and composite (NTSC/PAL) video inputs. Simply connect a 5–12V DC power adapter and plug in your video source — the driver auto-detects the active input and displays it immediately.

It works with any device that outputs HDMI, VGA, or composite video, including Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone Black, and desktop computers. A small wired control board with buttons provides on-screen menu access for adjusting brightness, colour, contrast, and input selection.

Key Features

  • 7" Display, 800×480 Resolution – Clear, bright TFT panel with extra-bright backlight
  • Triple Input – HDMI, VGA, and composite (NTSC/PAL) with auto-detection
  • On-Screen Menu – Wired control board for brightness, colour, contrast, and input selection
  • Wide Voltage Range – Powered via 2.1mm centre-positive DC jack (5–12V)
  • No Touchscreen – Display-only model for lower cost

Specifications

  • Screen Size: 7" diagonal
  • Resolution: 800 × 480
  • Panel Type: TFT (not IPS — limited viewing angles)
  • Video Inputs: HDMI, VGA, Composite (NTSC/PAL)

Tip: When using with a Raspberry Pi, edit config.txt to set the HDMI output to 800×480 if the resolution isn't detected automatically.

Ideal For

  • Raspberry Pi and BeagleBone Black projects
  • Embedded computing displays and dashboards
  • Portable HDMI/VGA monitor setups

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

HDMI
HDMI is a common digital video and audio connection used by computers, media players, and many displays. If a display kit has HDMI input, it is usually much easier to test with a single-board computer because it can act like a normal monitor.
IPS
IPS is a type of LCD panel that keeps colours and contrast more consistent when viewed from an angle. This matters for small displays that may be mounted in a dashboard, handheld project, or enclosure where the viewer is not always looking straight on.
TFT
A thin-film transistor display is a common type of colour LCD used for graphics screens. Knowing a product is for TFTs helps you check that the driver board matches the display’s connector, resolution, backlight, and signalling method.
VGA
VGA is a video resolution standard commonly meaning 640 × 480 pixels. It matters because it tells you the maximum image detail this camera can capture, which is enough for basic inspection but not high-definition video.
