This extra-tall 2×20 female header is designed to connect custom PCBs and HATs to the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins. At 16.5 mm tall, it provides enough clearance for your board to sit above the Ethernet and USB jacks without interference.
The header has 3 mm pin length on the underside, so there's no need to trim long pins — ideal for basic Pi plate and HAT designs. Compatible with the Raspberry Pi A+, B+, Pi 2, Pi 3, and other 40-pin Raspberry Pi models.
Key Features
- 2×20 Pin (40-Pin) – Matches the standard Raspberry Pi GPIO layout
- Extra-Tall (16.5 mm) – Clears Ethernet and USB connectors
- 3 mm Pin Length – Short pins that don't require trimming
- 2.54 mm Pitch – Standard header spacing
Ideal For
- Custom PCB and HAT designs for Raspberry Pi
- Stacking boards above Pi connectors
- Prototyping Raspberry Pi add-on boards
Package Contents
- 1× 2×20 Tall Female Header

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- GPIO
- General-purpose input/output pins are microcontroller pins you can set in software to read signals, switch devices on and off, or connect to peripherals. The number of GPIO pins matters because it limits how many buttons, LEDs, sensors, and other parts you can wire directly to the board.
- PCB
- A printed circuit board (PCB) is a board, usually rigid, with etched copper tracks that connect electronic components together without loose wiring. Components are mounted on the board and signals route between them through the copper layout.
