Fingerprint Scanner - TTL (GT-511C3)

Discontinued

The GT-511C3 is a compact fingerprint scanner module that communicates over TTL serial, making it easy to integrate into Arduino and microcontroller projects. It handles all fingerprint processing on-board with its built-in optical sensor and 32-bit CPU — you just send simple serial commands.

This updated version stores up to 200 fingerprints (10× more than the previous model) and supports 360° recognition. You can register, verify, and identify prints, download fingerprint images and templates, and even transfer databases between modules. Demo software is available for PC testing via an FTDI breakout.

Key Features

  • 200 Fingerprint Capacity – Store up to 200 unique fingerprints on-board
  • 360° Recognition – Reads fingerprints from any angle
  • SmackFinger 3.0 Algorithm – High-speed, high-accuracy identification
  • TTL Serial Interface – Simple UART protocol at 9600 baud (default)
  • 1:1 and 1:N Modes – Supports both verification and identification
  • Image Download – Retrieve fingerprint images and raw optical sensor data
  • Template Transfer – Read, write, and share fingerprint databases between modules
  • JST-SH Connector – 4-pin connector (VCC, GND, TX, RX)

Specifications

  • Fingerprint Capacity – 200
  • Interface – UART/TTL Serial (default 9600 baud)
  • Connector – JST-SH 4-pin
  • Dimensions – 37 × 17 × 9.5 mm

Ideal For

  • Access control and door lock systems
  • Biometric authentication projects
  • Attendance and time-tracking systems
  • Secure embedded devices
Note: The module does not include a cable. A 4-wire JST-SH pigtail is required to connect to the module.
