The CS30 is an integrated RGB-D 3D vision sensor that combines a Time-of-Flight depth camera with an HD colour imager. It is designed to capture detailed point cloud data for robotics, interactive AI, 3D scanning and SLAM applications.

Its depth and colour data can be fused in real time, helping systems build a more complete view of the surrounding environment. The camera supports indoor sensing from close-up work through to larger scene capture, with a compact 90mm x 25mm x 25mm body for embedding into mobile robots and space-constrained builds.

For development, the CS30 supports Win 10, Ubuntu and ROS, and is backed by an SDK with ready-to-use code examples. The package includes one CS30 RGBD Depth Camera, and the supplier provides a Product Wiki for documentation.

Features:

  • RGBD fusion: Fuses ToF depth data with HD colour imaging for coloured 3D point cloud applications.
  • Robotic SLAM: Equip your robot with intelligent eyes for navigation and mapping.
  • Volume Measurement: Instantly calculate the dimensions of objects with high precision.
  • 3D Modeling: Scan real-world objects and environments to create detailed digital models.
  • Motion-Sensing & Gesture Control: Create immersive interactive experiences.
  • Security & People Counting: Implement advanced surveillance and analytics.
  • Industrial Vision: Automate inspection and sorting tasks on the factory floor.
  • Rapid development: Broad native support for Windows, Linux, and ROS, with a comprehensive SDK and ready-to-use code examples.
  • Compact design: Minimal 90x25x25mm footprint for embedding into space-constrained designs and mobile platforms.

  • Size: 90mm x 25mm x 25mm

A good fit for robotics developers, AI interaction projects and 3D vision experiments that need colour depth data through a USB Type-C connection.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

Colour depth
Colour depth describes how many different colours a display can show. A 65K-colour display can show about 65,000 colours, which is useful for icons, graphs, and simple full-colour interfaces but is less detailed than modern phone or computer screens.
RGB
Short for red, green and blue, usually referring to an LED that can mix those three colours. It matters because controlling an RGB LED teaches how separate outputs combine to create different colours.
ROS
ROS, the Robot Operating System, is a set of software tools and libraries commonly used to build robot projects. Mentioning ROS support suggests the board has the kinds of interfaces and processing power often needed for cameras, sensors and robot control.
USB Type-C
A reversible USB connector used for power and data on many modern devices. On this kit it indicates an alternate 5V power input, which may be useful for setup or charging without the solar panel.
