The Adafruit DC Power BFF Add-On lets you power your QT Py or Xiao development board from a DC source up to 20V. The on-board MPM3610 integrated buck converter steps down the input to 5V at up to 1A, with no heat sink required — providing plenty of power for LEDs, WiFi, displays, and small motors.

Key Features

  • Wide Input Range – Accepts up to 20V DC input
  • MPM3610 Buck Converter – Generates 5V at up to 1A, no heat sink needed
  • Dual Power Inputs – 3.5mm terminal block and 2.1mm DC jack
  • Pass-Through Output – Terminal block can provide high-voltage power to other devices
  • Schottky Diode Protection – Protects both inputs from back-feeding
  • External Switch Pads – Solderable pads for an on/off switch to disable the converter

Compatibility

  • QT Py and Xiao development boards (any variant)

Ideal For

  • Powering QT Py projects from wall adapters, batteries, or solar panels
  • Projects requiring higher voltage input than USB can provide
  • Portable and remote IoT installations

Package Contents

  • 1× Adafruit DC Power BFF Add-On
  • 2× 7-pin socket headers

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

Headers
Rows of metal pins used to plug a module into a breadboard or connect it with jumper wires. Pre-soldered headers make the module easier to use straight away without needing to solder the pins yourself.
IoT
Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
Terminal block
A connector used to join wires together in a neat, removable, or serviceable way. For this product, it helps split one power input into several outputs without soldering.
