The Adafruit Pi T-Cobbler breaks out all the power, GPIO, I2C and SPI pins from the Raspberry Pi's 26-pin header onto a solderless breadboard in a T-shaped layout. The wider T-shape makes the pin labels easier to read compared to the compact Cobbler. Comes fully assembled with a 26-pin ribbon cable — no soldering required.
All pins are clearly labelled on the PCB, so you can build circuits without needing a separate pinout reference.
Key Features
- 26-Pin Breakout – All GPIO, power, I2C and SPI pins broken out to breadboard
- T-Shape Layout – Wider format for easier pin label reading
- Fully Assembled – PCB with socket and headers pre-soldered
- No Soldering Required – Ribbon cable plugs directly into the Pi
- Labelled Pins – Clear pin labels on the PCB
Compatibility
- Raspberry Pi Model A and Model B (Revision 1 and 2)
- Not compatible with Raspberry Pi B+, Pi 2, Pi 3 or Pi Zero (these use a 40-pin header)
Also Available
- Pi Cobbler (Compact) – Smaller footprint version
Ideal For
- Breadboard prototyping with Raspberry Pi
- Learning GPIO, I2C and SPI interfaces
- Rapid circuit development
Package Contents
- 1× Adafruit Pi T-Cobbler Breakout (assembled)
- 1× 26-pin ribbon cable
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- breakout
- A breakout is a small circuit board that makes a tiny or hard-to-solder component easier to connect to with standard pins. It matters because this OLED module can be wired into a microcontroller project without needing to solder directly to the display’s fine contacts.
- GPIO
- General-purpose input/output pins are microcontroller pins you can set in software to read signals, switch devices on and off, or connect to peripherals. The number of GPIO pins matters because it limits how many buttons, LEDs, sensors, and other parts you can wire directly to the board.
- Headers
- Rows of metal pins used to plug a module into a breadboard or connect it with jumper wires. Pre-soldered headers make the module easier to use straight away without needing to solder the pins yourself.
- I2C
- I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
- PCB
- A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
- solderless breadboard
- A reusable board with connected holes for building temporary circuits without soldering. It matters in beginner kits because students can change wiring quickly and safely while learning how components connect.
- SPI
- A fast serial communication bus often used for displays, memory cards, and sensors. It matters because SPI devices need specific pins for clock and data, plus a separate chip-select line for each device.
