The Miniware MHP30 is a pocket-sized smart hot plate preheater designed for SMD preheating and desoldering. Standing just 5.2 cm tall with a 30 × 30 mm heating area, it condenses the functionality of a desktop heating station into a compact, portable form factor powered by USB-C PD.
The separable controller and hot plate design allows flexible replacement of the heating element. The brass hot plate features a nano-ceramic coating for even heat distribution, while the built-in colour-changing LED gives instant visual feedback on temperature status. Smart features include preset temperatures, tilt protection, auto-sleep, and upgradeable firmware.
Key Features
- USB-C PD Powered – Up to 60W via PD protocol (20V max), truly portable
- Fast Heating – Room temperature to 300°C in approximately 150 seconds
- 30 × 30 mm Heating Area – High-efficiency brass plate with nano-ceramic coating
- Separable Design – Controller and hot plate detach for easy replacement
- Real-Time LED Display – Shows current temperature on screen
- Colour-Changing LED – Built-in indicator shifts colour with temperature changes
- Smart Modes – Preset temperature, tilt protection, power wake-up, and auto-sleep
- Upgradeable Firmware – Future updates via USB-C

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- LED
- A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
- PCB
- A printed circuit board (PCB) is a board, usually rigid, with etched copper tracks that connect electronic components together without loose wiring. Components are mounted on the board and signals route between them through the copper layout.
- SMD
- SMD means surface-mount device, a component style designed to be soldered directly onto the surface of a circuit board rather than through holes. SMD parts are compact and mounted flat on the board, which suits smaller and mass-produced designs.
- USB PD power supply
- A charger or power adaptor that uses USB Power Delivery to negotiate higher voltages and currents over USB-C. It matters because the device and cable must support the required PD power level, otherwise a board, soldering iron, laptop, or other product may charge slowly or not run at all.
- USB-C
- USB-C is a small, reversible USB connector that can carry power, data and, on some devices, video over a single cable. The same connector can range from charging only to high-speed data, so the functions a given port actually supports vary.
