TIMI-Click is a unique breadboard compatible display development module designed to provide development boards/modules which have a mikroBUS™ Click socket a simple to interface display solution. TIMI Click is aimed to speed up and reinvent the way electronic testing, development and projects are carried out. This Starter Kit version features a TIMI-Click and a Mates Programmer to get you started as easily as possible!
Wrapped in a sleek metal frame, TIMI can be viewed at any angle. Boasting a full RBG (65K vivid colors) display with 160×80 resolution. TIMI Click is a 0.96” TFT LCD display module that is driven directly by a PIXXI-28 graphics processor from 4D Labs. It features a MikroBUS interface, designed to attach to development platforms featuring a mikroBUS™ socket or headers.
TIMI’s main interface is a 3.3V level Asynchronous Serial UART and features three GPIO which can be used as Digital or Analog inputs, Digital Outputs, Controller I2C Communication or PWM Audio output. These interfaces arm TIMI with resources to be either a stand-alone controller, a Host driven peripheral, or a tethered test instrument while being capable of interfacing and powering external devices themselves.
The TIMI Click connects to the mikroBUS™ Click interface, utilizing primarily the Serial UART of the Click host. It also features a selector switch, which interrupts the Hosts TX signal, to direct the TIMI Click’s RX signal to the programming header instead. This allows the TIMI Click to be left connected to the Host board when the TIMI Click is required to be programmed. Reset is also connected to the RST of the mikroBUS™.
The TIMI Click also features a 5-pin programming header, to program its processor using the BreadBoard Mates Programmer, and a selection switch (on the back – accessible from the bottom edge) to switch between device programming mode or connection of the device to the mikroBUS™ Host.
TIMI Click was created as a flexible design aid, primarily to simulate components readouts and meters, which would otherwise be cumbersome or demanding on hardware resources for breadboard or electronic development. Simulating component readouts allows accelerated development and retains the often-limited GPIO hardware associated with many developments.
TIMI Click was designed for engineers, hobbyists, and students, from beginner to advanced levels, designed to make project development, easier.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- baud
- Baud is the signalling rate of a serial connection, often used as the speed setting for UART communication. Matching the baud rate matters because both connected devices must use the same setting for readable data.
- Flash memory
- Flash memory is non-volatile memory that retains stored data even when power is removed, and can be erased and rewritten in blocks. It lets data such as firmware, settings or saved records persist across power cycles.
- GPIO
- General-purpose input/output pins are microcontroller pins you can set in software to read signals, switch devices on and off, or connect to peripherals. The number of GPIO pins matters because it limits how many buttons, LEDs, sensors, and other parts you can wire directly to the board.
- Headers
- Rows of connector contacts on a fixed pitch (commonly 2.54 mm) used to link a board to a breadboard, jumper wires, or another board. They come as male pin headers and female socket headers; when a module ships with pre-soldered headers it can be used straight away, whereas bare pads require soldering the pins yourself.
- I2C
- I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
- LCD
- LCD stands for liquid crystal display, a screen technology that uses a backlight and liquid crystals to show images or text. It matters because LCD modules usually need a display driver and enough controller pins or a bus interface to send image data.
- PCB
- A printed circuit board (PCB) is a board, usually rigid, with etched copper tracks that connect electronic components together without loose wiring. Components are mounted on the board and signals route between them through the copper layout.
- PWM
- Pulse Width Modulation is a way for a digital pin to simulate variable output power by switching on and off very quickly. It matters for controlling things like LED brightness, motor speed, or servo-style signals from a microcontroller pin.
- RST
- RST (reset) is a control pin used to restart or reinitialise a device to a known state. Connecting an RST pin to a microcontroller lets the host reset the device, which can help with reliable start-up or recovery.
- RX
- RX means receive, usually showing data being received by the board. An RX indicator LED can help with troubleshooting USB or serial communication.
- SRAM
- Fast temporary memory used by a processor while a program is running. More SRAM helps with projects that handle larger data buffers, networking, displays, or more complex code.
- TFT
- A thin-film transistor display is a common type of colour LCD used for graphics screens. Knowing a product is for TFTs helps you check that the driver board matches the display’s connector, resolution, backlight, and signalling method.
- TX
- TX means transmit, usually showing data being sent from the board. A TX indicator LED can help you see when the board is communicating or uploading code.
- UART
- UART is a simple asynchronous serial interface that sends data over separate transmit and receive wires, usually labelled TX and RX, with both ends set to the same baud rate. It is a common way for microcontrollers and other serial devices to exchange data.
