The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+ (CM3+/32GB) packs the processing power of a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ into a compact 200-pin SODIMM form factor. Designed for embedded and industrial applications, it allows you to build custom carrier boards tailored to your project's exact requirements.

This 32 GB variant includes onboard eMMC flash storage, eliminating the need for an external SD card. The module is compatible with the Compute Module IO Board for development and prototyping.

Key Features

  • BCM2837B0 SoC – Quad-core Cortex-A53 (64-bit) running at 1.2 GHz
  • 1 GB LPDDR2 RAM – Same memory as the Raspberry Pi 3B+
  • 32 GB eMMC Storage – Onboard flash for reliable embedded deployment
  • 200-Pin SODIMM – Compact, standardised connector for custom carrier boards
  • Hardware Video – H.264 encode and decode at 1080p30; OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0
  • Extended Temperature Range – Operates from −20 to +70 °C

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

edge computing
Edge computing means processing data close to where it is collected, such as on the device itself, rather than sending everything to the cloud. This can reduce delays, internet dependence, and privacy concerns in sensor, camera, and robotics projects.
eMMC
Embedded MultiMediaCard is built-in flash storage soldered onto a board, similar in purpose to an SD card but integrated. It matters because it holds the operating system and files without needing a separate memory card.
IoT
Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
RAM
RAM is temporary memory used while a device is running, and its contents are lost when power is removed. A “Run in RAM” mode is useful for testing settings without permanently programming the module, but it may not support every feature.
