A complete kit for building a network-wide ad blocker using Pi-hole on a Raspberry Pi Zero WH. Pi-hole acts as a DNS server on your network — when a device requests an ad server address, Pi-hole returns nothing, blocking the ad before it even loads. Works with computers, tablets, and phones, even those that cannot run ad-blocker plugins.

Includes a Mini PiTFT colour display (240 × 135 IPS) that shows Pi-hole statistics and makes client setup easy. No soldering required — the Pi Zero WH comes with pre-soldered headers and the display connects directly via SPI.

Key Features

  • Network-Wide Ad Blocking – Blocks ads for all devices on your network via DNS
  • No Soldering Required – Pi Zero WH has pre-soldered headers
  • Mini Colour Display – 240 × 135 pixel IPS screen for stats and setup
  • DNS-Based Blocking – Faster connections, less data usage, and no intrusive ads
  • Compact and Portable – Place anywhere with WiFi and USB power
  • Complete Kit – Everything included except USB power supply and cable

Ideal For

  • Home and office network ad blocking
  • Blocking ads on devices that don't support ad-blocker plugins
  • Raspberry Pi networking projects
  • Learning about DNS and network administration

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

Headers
Rows of connector contacts on a fixed pitch (commonly 2.54 mm) used to link a board to a breadboard, jumper wires, or another board. They come as male pin headers and female socket headers; when a module ships with pre-soldered headers it can be used straight away, whereas bare pads require soldering the pins yourself.
IPS
IPS is a type of LCD panel that keeps colours and contrast more consistent when viewed from an angle. This matters for small displays that may be mounted in a dashboard, handheld project, or enclosure where the viewer is not always looking straight on.
microSD card
A microSD card is a small removable flash memory card used to store data such as audio, images, logs or program files. Its capacity and formatting (often FAT32 or exFAT) affect how much can be stored and whether the card needs preparing before use.
SPI
A fast serial communication bus often used for displays, memory cards, and sensors. It matters because SPI devices need specific pins for clock and data, plus a separate chip-select line for each device.
