MicroMod CAN Bus Function Board

MicroMod CAN Bus Function Board

Discontinued

The MicroMod CAN Bus Function Board adds Controller Area Network (CAN) connectivity to any MicroMod project. It pairs an MCP2515 stand-alone CAN controller with an MCP2551 high-speed transceiver, supporting CAN V2.0B at up to 1 Mb/s with up to 112 nodes on a single bus.

Two CAN connectors are provided: a 2-pin screw terminal for CANH/CANL and a D-sub connector for OBD-II-to-DB9 cables. Solder jumpers on the underside allow you to bypass the MCP2515 (if your processor has a built-in CAN controller), change the D-sub pinout for compatibility with third-party cables, and enable the built-in 120 Ω termination resistor.

Key Features

  • MCP2515 CAN Controller – CAN V2.0B at 1 Mb/s with high-speed SPI interface (10 MHz)
  • MCP2551 CAN Transceiver – Supports up to 112 nodes at 1 Mb/s
  • Dual CAN Connectors – 2-pin screw terminal and D-sub (DB9) connector
  • Configurable Solder Jumpers – CAN controller bypass, DB9 pinout selection, and 120 Ω termination
  • Bus Voltage Detection – MOSFET on DB9 bus-voltage pin for host power sensing
  • MicroMod M.2 Interface – Swappable processor and carrier board ecosystem
Note: A MicroMod Processor Board and Main Board are required and sold separately.

Ideal For

  • Vehicle OBD-II diagnostics and data logging
  • Industrial CAN bus monitoring and node development
  • Building automation and lighting control networks
  • Custom CAN network prototyping
