Heat-Set Insert For Soldering Irons - M5 Inserts

Discontinued

A specially shaped soldering iron tip designed for pressing M5 heat-set threaded inserts into 3D-printed or injection-moulded plastic parts. The vertical shoulder wall prevents the insert from sticking to the tip when you pull the iron away, and helps ensure the insert goes in straight every time.

Compatible with any soldering iron that accepts Hakko-style tips. Simply swap out your regular soldering tip, heat up the iron, and press the insert into a pre-drilled hole in your plastic part. Once cooled, you have a strong, reusable machine-screw thread embedded in the plastic.

Note: This is the soldering iron tip only. M5 heat-set inserts and soldering iron are sold separately.

Key Features

  • M5 Insert Size – Designed specifically for pressing M5 threaded inserts
  • Vertical Shoulder Wall – Prevents the insert from sticking to the tip on withdrawal
  • Square Alignment – Easier to keep the insert straight compared to conical soldering tips
  • Hakko-Compatible – Fits any soldering iron that accepts Hakko-style tips

Ideal For

  • Adding machine-screw threads to 3D-printed parts
  • Enclosure assembly with reusable fasteners
  • Replacing glued or self-tapping plastic connections
