A 30 × 30 cm square of black fabric with optical fibres woven directly into the material. Shine a bright light into the collected fibre bundle at one end, and the fabric fills with tiny glowing pinpoints — a striking effect for wearables, costumes, and e-textile projects.
For an even more dramatic glow, lightly abrade the fabric surface with fine sandpaper to make the fibres "leak" light. Selective abrasion is a great technique for creating custom patterns and designs.
