A 12MHz ceramic resonator with built-in load capacitors and breadboard-friendly 0.1" pin spacing. Ceramic resonators are a convenient alternative to crystals — they include the required stability capacitors inside the package, so fewer external components are needed. With 0.5% accuracy, they are well suited for general microcontroller clocking and UART baud-rate generation.

To connect, wire the two outer pins to XTAL-in and XTAL-out on your microcontroller (the package is symmetric, so either outer pin works) and connect the centre pin to ground.
