Build your own advanced humanoid robot with the Bolide Y-01 DIY kit from XYZrobot! It features 18 smart servos, each with 330° of effective position control, that allow it to perform a wide range of complex movements, including dancing, walking, and the ability to get back up from almost any lying position. The Bolide Y-01 robot is preprogrammed to perform many of these movements in response to commands from the included Bluetooth controller or a smartphone or tablet running the XYZrobot app, so it’s ready to do some amazing things as soon as you finish assembling it. For those who want to take this robot beyond its preprogrammed routines, the Bolide Y-01 features an Arduino-compatible ATmega1280 microcontroller that can be programmed to perform new movements and actions with the Arduino IDE and the XYZrobot Editor. The control board includes a three-axis accelerometer for maintaining postural stability and detecting falls, and the robot also has a distance sensor in its chest that can detect objects in front of it.

At the heart of the Bolide robot are its 18 A1-16 smart servos, which can produce up to 25 kg-cm of torque at 12 V. These highly configurable servos can be daisy-chained on a single bus and transmit temperature, speed, and position data back to the controller. Each servo includes four color LEDs for displaying the servo’s status.
