## Description

A direct time-of-flight (dToF) sensor from AMS that measures distances up to 5 metres using SPAD (Single Photon Avalanche Photodiode) and histogram technology. The TMF8820 provides 3×3 multi-zone output with multi-object detection and a dynamically adjustable field of view up to 63° diagonal — all processed on-chip and delivered over I2C. The onboard optical filter blocks ambient light, enabling reliable distance measurements in both dark and bright sunlight conditions. Connect via SparkFun's Qwiic system for solderless setup, or use the broken-out 0.1" header pins for breadboard prototyping.
